Another lovely day was had at the Ashington Festival this year where we were very well looked after with Grasshopper and Storm.
It was a really busy show ground with so much going on and for the first time ever we saw Storm's feather's ruffled a bit and his eyes out on stalks as they met with the large and rather close traditional fair ground rides spinning around. I thought it looked charming to see such old fashioned rides, such a nice change from the rather offensive and chaotically coloured rides we often encounter churning out 'Gangnam Style' or whatever that horrendous song is that seems to follow us about!?
No accounting for taste though as Storm charged through his Garrocha display with unusual 'exhuberance'!! Pete's arms were a bit tired after that display from holding Storm back and he was quite relieved we were just doing one performance that day.
After watching Storm's reaction I must admit I was getting a little nervous as Grasshopper is a more sensitive soul and even though I had been sure to do a very thorough practise, apparently I sported an 'inane' grin throughout the paso double!! I was actually trying to just focus on keeping him going forwards and keep his mind off the scary fair and I couldn't fault him really as he pulled out some great passage and had time for everyone in the audience afterwards when people wanted to pat him.
The funny moment of the show was when my phone, which was the facilitator of the music, actually had not been put on flight mode as planned when plugged into the PA system and we had some delightful 'bring bring' noises as it went off through the performance! Lesson learnt!
It was a great event, very professionally organised and such a treat to be local!!
